A quick blog before it gets too late for people’s memory! I was there! The night when Till Lindermann shot his load all over his audience. I got it full blast in the face too…
First time I have ever seen Rammstein live and also being tipped off as their last performances ever. The pyromatics and the fireworks were intense, something I have never seen in my lifetime. I was quite far from the stage but even where I stood, I felt the heat. Speaking to a photographer friend who was situated besides the stage informed me that he no longer has eyebrows.
The performance entailed more than I expected. It wasn’t just a band performing their songs. They played out the songs. They lived the songs and we joined in. The set up was sheer genius and had everyone guessing.
Was it the best band I have ever seen? Shockingly No2. ACDC I doubt will ever be beaten. They had a god damn train! Id pick a train over a penis any day…. but for me, I would say 9/10 marks…
Rock ‘n’ roll ain’t worth the name if it don’t make you strut,
Don’t sweat it, get it back to you,
Overkill, Overkill, Overkill Overkill By Motorhead
11th August 2011
The morning of Thursday 11th August woke with such a buzz in anticipation to get the engine started and begin the 3 hour journey to Birmingham with our tents and our booze. The excitement really hit me when we were there and unpacking the car! We did the what seemed like miles and miles of walking to the camp-site and we met our friends. Now I am no camper. Not even close. I have been camping maybe twice in my life and I have never had the opportunity to attempt at erecting a tent. After about 40 mins of staring at the tent and its items, I accepted that I might have a few problems with sleeping arrangements. Thankfully I was being watched by a Knight in shining armour who rescued me and taught me how to put up a tent. I then had another failure with the air bed but rather than seek help, I accepted defeat and used it as a mat. I was set up, so I opened my first can of Fosters and took a seat.
Now as you will know, late nights are the best part of the festivals especially when your with a large number of people. It was a good crack and met a few random new people of which one I treated for Sun Stroke.

12th August 2011
The next day was the beginning of the bands! In true style, breakfast consisted of a can of Fosters and about 4 cigarettes to get my mind to jolt awake. Then I headed to the main arena and moshed my way to Forbidden, Kreator, Devin Townsend Project and the amazing W.A.S.P. Now W.A.S.P were good…Dont get me wrong. But they dragged out each song and wasted alot of time. I was still however in my element. I danced and sang and cheered and was taken up in the emotion of it all. The atmosphere was alive with the sound of music!!!! After W.A.S.P we headed back to the campsite and everything is a huge blur from that point. But I slept very well.

13th August 2011
I regarded this day as my band day. I was excited to see Skeltonwitch, Grave Digger, Wintersung, Rhapsody Of Fire (Who were by far the best band of the weekend) and Immortal. Now I am no expert of festivals or moshpits or anything associated to such. I had never been to such a gig and got the front. Always played it safe and watched from a distance. Well not when it came to Immortal. I pushed my way to the front bar and was squashed by men no smaller than 8foot. I had a bust lip and I was still unable to see Immortal. I tried to jump only to be hit down by elbows or feet from the sailing surfers above. I was gravely disappointed BUT…it was an experience I will never forget. The adrenaline of the situation was immense. I wanted to scream to an attendant to help me out as I was struggling to breath. I wanted water and I wanted to be safe but the other-side of me wanted to relish the danger and the fight. I stayed in this crushed situation until the end. I prayed for Immortal to finish…but they just kept on going. When fresh air hit me, I was relieved. But it was fun and I would do it again. Just not when I actually want to see the band…

14th August 2011 -The Day Of Disappointment
Today was going to be a quiet one for me in comparison to the day before. My ribs and neck hurt and my feet felt like they were on their last legs…I hurt. I decided to make an effort and sit and watch a few bands but not get involved in the moshpits etc. Primordial were amazing until the poor fella lost his voice half way through his set. But my god he still tried!!! Napalm Death were terrible so I decided to take a walk back to the camp for a rest. I chilled with a few beers for a few hours and headed back over to see Morbid Angel and my old time favourite ‘MOTORHEAD’. My main reason for going to Bloodstock. Now my love for Motorhead goes back to when my Dad would put the tapes on drives in his lorry when he delivered goods. We would listen to them and I have been a fan ever-since. I saw them last year and they were amazing. This year however was a huge disappointment. Not only was the set cut 20 minutes later, Not only did they not play Overkill and also why does a drummer need 10 minutes to perform a solo? The final straw was Lemmy was unable to even talk to this fans due to how intoxicated he was. Now I know he is famous for his abilty to consume alot of alcohol…but as fans, we paid good money for a show that was not delievered. I find that it was a very un-proffesional show and I am very very gutted that I even bothered for this band. Now I must say I still had a great time and under no circumstances do I regret going to Bloodstock. The people and the rest of the lineups made it a very good festival…

17th August 2011
Today I returned back to work with the worst case of a cold I have had in a long time. I have decided to include this into my Bloodstock experience duly to the fact I believe the cold at night has had somewhat of a impact of my health. This is to remind me that next time. Take a very thick sleeping bag Gemmie, Also a thick hoddy and no matter what, nice cuddly pyjamas…
Overall a great weekend!!!
